DEFINITION - What is ProQueer??

Proqueer is a term/ideology that describes someone who supports all harmless, good faith identities. This includes those that are typically seen as "contradictory", weird and/or complex by the wider queer community. ¹The term was coined by @boygirlfemme / lesboytism on Twitter & Tumblr. Some examples of identities supported by proqueer people include: mspec monos, xenogenders, neopronouns, lesboys + turigirls, etc.

What is the difference between Proqueer, Radinclus, and Radqueer??

Proqueer and Radinclus (Radically Inclusive) essentially have the same meaning. Both labels support complex and "contradictory" queer identities.HOWEVER, Proqueer/Radinclus is NOT the same as Radqueer!!Radqueer (Radical Queer) is a similar ideology, where people support ALL queer identities, even including ones that could be deemed as harmful (ie. someone identifying as TransRacial while not being an Adoptee. Using the term in an incorrect way to describe "Transitioning" from one race to another.)

What is the purpose of this carrd??

This site is made with the intention to explain and educate others on the complexities of queer identities and history that has been ignored in favor for more "safe" identities that are easy for non-queer people to understand!

FAQ - MSPEC + MONO IDENTITIES

What is an Mspec Mono?

  • - Mspec Mono is short for Multi-Spectrum Attraction Monosexual. Multi-spectrum attraction is an umbrella term that describes someone's attraction to multiple gender; this includes Bi, Pan, Omni, etc.

  • - Compared to Monosexual, someone whose attraction is based on one gender.

  • - Someone who is Mspec Mono identifies with both of these labels, like bi-lesbians or bi-gays, for example.

Why would someone identify this way?

  • - Split-Attraction-Model (SAM): Someone's romantic, sexual, and tertiary attractions differ from one another. This can happen when someone is on the AroAce-Spectrum.

  • ㅤ⋆ For example: Someone who is Homoromantic and Bisexual experiences different types of attractions to people, but for simplicity, they might refer to themself as "Bigay".

  • - Fluid Identity: Someone might flip-flop between orientations due to being Abro(sexual/romantic), and/or genderfluid, and experiences different types of attraction towards others when one's gender changes.

  • ㅤ⋆ For example: Someone who is Genderfluid may experience Sapphic/Lesbian attraction towards women and genderqueer folk, but also experience Bi/Mspec attraction towards other genders.

  • - Emphasizing attraction: wip
